I've thought about Rangershipping, but I think Kate is more of a "spoilt little princess" than Solana.

World is Mine (Miku version) for Vatonageshipping. I've thought about Rangershipping, but I think Kate is more of a "spoilt little princess" than Solana. Hah. Isn't this wonderful? We're all fans of Vocaloid and of Pokemon Ranger. Hmm... I've never thought of Kate as a spoilt and degenerate. I find that she is generally depicted as the oblivious type whose child-like behaviour is undisturbed by the massive burden of responsibility that is placed upon her. |

Maybe "I like you I love you" by rin again? XD Oh, no. That isn't what I think of her. However, CherriEclipse, one of the most prominent Pokemon Ranger fanfiction writers, depicts her this way. Many others follow suit. I believe her to be an individual with an outward show of optimism and politeness, this being a partial facade. There are only a few situations in which she is cheerful, usually pertaining to friendships or her job(i.e. being around Keith and Rhythmi or being at the Ranger school). Because of her role in the Dim Sun incident and the impact it had on her, as well as because of her nature, she has some level of paranoia(highly aware of her surroundings, often suspicious of odd activity) and is very concerned with her work. She shows zealous pride in her career and genuine attachment to the ideal of a completely peaceful Human/Pokemon coexistence. Despite this idealistic view and the partial reality of her jovial mindset, she has a pessimistic and dry sense of humour that is usually contained by her thoughts. That's only a bit of it. |

I think your depiction of Kate's personality will differ depending on whether you envision her as the protagonist of the SoA game or not.
Zaphrix, I think your description of her is valid, since I assume she is the hero in your story. In my case, Kellyn is the main hero, and Kate is a supporting character, so she gets a character more similar to what is depicted of her in the SoA webcomic. (MORE similar - not completely identical.)
I didn't really mean to say I think of Kate as spoiled. Most of the time, I don't - she is friendly and compassionate in my stories. I just think such a depiction would be more suitable to Kate than to Solana, especially in a relationship. I think Kate is capable of giving her guy some trouble with her quirks.

There is no universal depiction, as Kate and Kellyn are characters without personality in the games. Furthermore, unlike in the original PR, she does not appear as another character if you choose Kellyn and vice-versa. Zaphrix, I think your description of her is valid, since I assume she is the hero in your story. In my case, Kellyn is the main hero, and Kate is a supporting character, so she gets a character more similar to what is depicted of her in the SoA webcomic. (MORE similar - not completely identical.) Eh, my story has an ever-switching PoV frame. Miss April, Thomas Sullivan(Ranger OC), Principal Lamont, Oscar(an Altru employee), Diogenes(A Villain OC), Bartholomew(Another Ranger OC), [insert name](An unknown female character appearing at the end of the latest chapter), and Kate have ALL had sections where the story is in their point of view. Furthermore, the Point of View can be relative. Sometimes it is completely from their eyes and bias, and others it varies in degrees(I think of it in angles of sight). Even in the latter case thoughts of the character can be represented. As such, it is not truly clear who the Main Character is at the moment to a reader. However, Thomas and Io Cali(Another Ranger OC) are intended to be the main protagonists. I didn't really mean to say I think of Kate as spoiled. Most of the time, I don't - she is friendly and compassionate in my stories. I just think such a depiction would be more suitable to Kate than to Solana. I can see that. However, i really dont have the grounds to make a judgment. Solana does not appear to be that in anyway as a character in PR. However, the opposite could be said of our dear friend Aria, whose name I often confuse with Elita because Aria is elitist. |

Well, since the protagonists of the Pokemon games are personality-less like you said, it's pretty much up to the individual fans to interpret for themselves.

My one and only ShadowCrystal has yet to have a song  The closest candidate as of now would be Sarah Mclachlan's "I Will Remember You." (Darkrai's PoV) ...Too bad it's such a widely-used song ._. On Kellyn's PoV... I haven't the clue. xD Some of the remotely possible candidates being "What About Now" (Daughtry), "Here Without You" (3 Doors Down) or even "Say When" (The Fray) (Although it's not that kind of song, somehow, somehow, it works when I put it next to my fic idea.) Eh, but none of them are -quite- a perfect fit, let's put it that way. xD |
